2003 Plastic Art

The jury was made up in this occasion by Ms. Catalina Luca de Tena, editor of the daily publication ABC, who was the chairwoman; accompanied by Mr. Carlos Garcia Osuna, art critic and writer; Mr. Salvador Andres Ordax, Professor of Art History of the Unversity of Valladolid; Mr. Pedro Perez Castro, director of Museum Art Nouveau and Art Deco – Casa Lis of Salamanca and sponsor of the Manuel Ramos Andrade Foundation; and Mr. Anton Garcia-Abril Ruiz, architect and collaborator of “El Cultural” of the daily publication El Mundo.

2003 Scenic Art

The jury was made up in this occasion by Mr. Andres Ruiz Tarazona, Cultural Advisor of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, who was the chairman; accompanied by Ms. Mercedes Guillamon Duch, Manager of the Calderon Theater of Valladolid; Mr. Jose Luis Garcia del Busto, Music Critic; Mr. Daniel Perez Fernandez, Author and Director of the Principal Theater of Zamora and Mr. Manuel Erice, Director of the daily publication ABC in Castile and Leon.

2003 Science and Investigation

The jury was chaired by the Doctor Francisco Jose Florez Tascon, accompanied by Mr. Enrique Ybarra, President of the Grupo Correo Prensa Española Foundation; Mr. Tomas Girbes Juan, Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the University of Valladolid and awarded the Castile and Leon Award in Science and Investigation; Dr. Antonio Gil Verona, Professor of Human Anatomy of the University of Valladolid, secretary of the Spanish League against Epilepsy and Director of the Museum of Science of Valladolid; and by Dr. Eudald Carbonell, Professor of Pre-History of the University Rovira and Virgili and Co-Director of the Atapuerca excavation site and Foundation.

2003 Sports

The jury for the Award in this category for the 2003 edition was made up of: Ms. Maria del Carmen Izquierdo Vergara, President of the National Federation of the Association of sports journalists and Production Director of the sports programs of TVE, who served as the chairwoman for the jury; together with Mr. Conrado Durantez, President of the Spanish Olympic Academy and President of the International Committee Pierre de Coubertin; Mr. Amalio Moratalla, Assistant to the General Director of sports of the Recoletos group; Mr. Pedro Delgado, former cyclist; and Mr. Juan Maria Gastaca, Sub-Director of ABC

2003 Literature

The jury for the literature award met on July 4th in Valladolid and was chaired by: Ms. Rosa Pereda, Writer and journalist; Mr. Jose Miguel Santiago Castelo, Sub-Director of ABC; Mr. Angel Sanchez - Harguindey, Assistant Director of El Pais; Ms. Paz Ramos, Director of the RNE program “Ojo Crítico”; and Mr. Cesar Hernandez Alonso, Professor of the Spanish Language of the University of Valladolid

2003 Thought and Humanities

The jury for the Cristobal Gabarron Foundation award in Thought and Humanities was chaired by Mr. Alejandro Royo-Villanova, President of “El Norte de Castilla” and made up of: Mr. Vicente Diez Garcia, Director of the Territorial Center of RTVE Castile and Leon; Mr. Benigno Pendas Garcia, Professor of Political Ideas in Theory of the University Complutense; Mr. Camilo Jose Cela Conde, Professor of Philosophy of the University of the Balearic Islands; and Mr. Luis Jaramillo Guerreira, Director of COPE in Castile and Leon.

2003 Restoration and Conservation

The jury for the Cristobal Gabarron Foundation award in Restoration and Conservation 2003 was chaired by Ms. Pilar Roig, Director of the Departament of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Goods of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, and made up of Mr. Juan Maria Garcia Otero, Director of the Magazine R&R, Mr. Francisco Somoza, architect, Mr. Ignacio Fernandez Sobrino, Director of Antena 3 in Castile and Leon and Mr. Rodrigo Gutierrez, Sub-Director of ABC.
